Why do I have to fill out a separation form (termination paper) after being fired?

I worked at one of the dining halls at my college since September 2012 and I got fired yesterday because I didn't come to work for the last few days. Before you call me a bad person it's because I'm in a sorority and we had polish week last week and recruitment this week and I would be fined a lot of money for missing any days, and management at my job wouldn't excuse it.


Anyway, my manager emailed me yesterday saying that I will no longer be working for them and that I have to come in and fill out a separation form. My question is why do I have to do that? If they're firing me then I never want to go back there again. They're already firing me so what more can they do to me if I don't fill out a separation form?
