all depends on the situation and the length of time since it happened and various other factors....I taught for a couple of years at a vocational school (they do lie to students to get them enrolled too btw) and here is what I see your problem might be....it's not so much whether or not you can get the degree (as I'm pretty sure you can get the degree if you want to without any problem) where your problem just might lie in is this....will you be able to get the job in that field AFTER getting the degree? Do an online search of all of your states applicable laws regarding occupational licensing or permits if any are required for the job you want to do... as well as what types of criminal convictions will bar you from that job...even if there are no state legal restrictions, you might make some type of attempt to find out what types of background checks are done, how far back they go, whether or not they will consider misdemeanors vs felonies etc etc. Do this BEFORE you even consider enrolling in school. I will say I think you are sitting in a better position with just a misdemeanor rather than having a felony, however even when I taught they always would tell all these students that they would absolutely be able to get the job after graduation even with their criminal records, only for them to find out nobody would hire them at all, leaving them owing tons of student loans and no better job to show for it.
Can i get a bachelors in criminology with a class b theft misdameanor on my record?
