I was on my way to Chipotle Mexican Grill on Fairmont Pkwy earlier today on Wednesday, 9-25-2013. I noticed a woman with two small children holding a sign up asking for money in the parking lot between the Chipotle restaurant and Target. I felt sorry for her so I decided to give her a gift card I had for HEB that had about $40 on it. She took the card and asked "what is this?". This surprised me because no one from Texas doesn't know what an HEB supermarket is. She also seemed disappointed that I didn't hand her cash. From a distance they looked hispanic but when I got closer the woman looked more East Indian.
I felt sorry for her and so I decided to give her the gift card so that she could at least buy food but the fact that she didn't know what an HEB supermarket was makes me think that she's not from here and that she might be part of a money collecting scam.
I'd hate to think that my generosity was taken advantage of.

Was I scammed today? Please help!?
