How do i gain access to a trust fund in england?

My family and I have recently discovered that a trust fund was set up in England around the 1930's with money and property. Unfortunately when my grandmother sent a letter to them wanting to know how she could gain access, she was ignored. Would i have to employ a solicitor and travel to England to gain access and distribute the money with my family back here in Australia? what would the fees and taxes be?
