Will the employer find out the truth?

  • company credit check
  • best cell phone company
  • work to do online
  • unemployed benefits
I have been looking for a job in Los Angeles where there are a lot of unemployed and very few jobs, for a long time. I wasn't getting any responses to my résumé for months, so I changed it by shuffling around my work history. I had an administrative job in 1999. The company closed in 2002. I said I worked there from 2006-2010 instead of saying I was unemployed during that period.

I had 2 interviews with an employment agency and they verbally confirmed all the info on my résumé with me and scheduled an in person interview for a dream job tomorrow, this afternoon they are going to have me complete references for which I can leave out that company's number saying they closed so I don't know how to reach them (they can correctly verify everything else on my résumé). They're also going to do a background check so I don't know if the dates will appear there.

Please help, I don't know what to do. My mom sad f I tell them I've been lying they'll for sure not hire me. But I feel scared lying in person tomorrow and don't know f I should just cancel the interview and lose this opportunity. Thoughts?

Will the employer find out the truth?
