About 13 months ago I take out a payday loan through cashnetusa it went default and they sold it to a debt collector. CDR associated with DMP has threaten to take me to court and possibly garnish my wages. I asked them for a letter of validation of debt on August 30th I just received one today November 25th via email. They offered to settle for $435. Unfortunately I do not have this much money to pay. I made them an offer to pay what I could afford (monthly) and they denied it. They said if I didn't settle I could possibly go to court and have my wages garnished. I live in California and this company is in New York. Would they really travel across the U.S. To take me to court for such a small amount of money?
Can a debt collector take me to court for $665?
