business formation services
I was laid off at the end of August.
I was told in my exit interview that the business was struggling with keeping the doors open and that prior to closing down the business, a magazine, that they would change my position to ensure I was not the cause for their lack of print advertising revenues.
They replaced me with someone who had no experience and would only focus on one small aspect of my job, the rest of my responsibilities were dumped on the remaining staff.
The magazine is a small family business and anyone who has worked for one knows how that goes. While the owner may have been the founder, the wife is your second boss.
For ten years I listened to her nonsensical knitpicking and micromanaging. Never received a write up but certainly had meeting which typically ended with her looking like an idiot that knew nothing about what she was trying to get involved with
At any rate, I was given severance, vacation and sick pay and told I could collect unemployment.
I filed for unemployment two weeks ago and learned that the wife was fighting paying me benefits. Saying I was fired for misconduct (first I'd heard of this). Citing: my advertisers did not like me, nor did the co-workers and contractors (whom all have been in contact with me since I left). As well as my being arrogant and a sloppy record keeper.
There is nothing in writing to substantiate any of this. Can a bitter and angry former employer do this? She was at the exit meeting and never opened her mouth?
WTF?
