I'm 20 years old and want to start building credit. My main questions are...
1. How do you choose a credit card?
2. What is a deposit?
3. What does maxing out a card mean?
4. How do the payments work when you purchase something using a credit card (do have to pay it off in 1 month or over the course of a few months)
And please add any additional info that might help me develop a better general idea of credit cards and how they work. Thanks :]
Additional Details Your guys answers are great. That being said, what is an unsecured card opposed to a secured card exactly? How do you build up the limit that you are allowed to charge? And lastly, If my credit card limit is only $500 and I buy, let's say, a new tv for $450 and max out my card, is it considered acceptable as long as I pay it all off when the bill is due? Or is it still frowned upon?
