How do I call a store to ask something?

If I want to call a place to find out what they have, or don't have, I get a little nervous. Even if it's something I want to know, or feel I need to know, I sort of can be a chicken about it. Sometimes I can do it perfectly fine, but sometimes I just put it off and then make myself forget to check. With some places, like the place I wanna call now, I can't look online for what's in stock, I don't think. . . can anybody sort of just give me advice? Even if you just tell me to shut up, stop being a baby and do it, that helps.
