Hi, I am a student attending college and I would like to begin building my credit. I recently applied for a Red Card at target and I was denied, I also tried getting a credit card with my bank (BOA) and the woman said I had been approve but to my dismay I received a letter that said I did not qualify because of insufficient credit history it also said that my credit score was 499 and I have read that it's very bad...... my question to you guys is how can I build my credit, a friend told me that capital one offers credit cards for students but I don't want to keep applying because I've also heard that it's bad.
Additional Details Hi first of all thank you for taking the time to respond.
1. yes, I have a job and I've had it for almost a year now
2. I have a bank account and I have had one since I was 18, I'm 20 now.
My checks are usually 3 to 4 hundred every two weeks.
considering that, any other advice?
