So I haven't been at my apartment complex much this month or so do to work opportunities. So my brother has been stopping by my place every other day or so to keep an eye on it. I gave him plenty of money to pay rent/utilities and money on the side as payment for watching my place.


Well he just came up to me teary eyed with documentation that I have to go to court for failure to pay rent. Apparently he spent all the money I gave him and thought I wouldn't find out, not telling me about the warnings they left in the door or anything until now. My court date is tomorrow and after much thinking, I realized this really is my responsibility and not his. Its my lease. So, what should I expect to happen? I dont have nearly enough money now to pay the rent with the additional late fees...


Also, when they served the court order, they only slipped it in the door and did not give it to me or my brother in person. Apparently this isnt legal but does anyone have more info on this? Any help would be appreciated

Good to know. I live in arizona if that helps. What about the money I currently owe that I cant pay?
