I have finally found a new job. Thing is, they need me to start ASAP, so I can't give 2 weeks. If I wait 2 weeks, I'll lose the job. So tomorrow I have to quit my job. I'm not scheduled to go in, but I figured the sooner, the better because I have orientation with my new job on Wednesday. How do I start the conversation? The manager is a tool, he's been gossiping about me behind my back but if confronted, he acts like nothing's wrong. I just don't know what to say, especially since I don't want to sound bitter. Any advice.
Bonus question...at my current job, I have a team leader. He's been great to me, we helped open this place together. He's a sweet guy and he won't be there tomorrow when I quit. Should I send him a text after I quit, thanking him for all of his help? Or is that overstepping?
Additional Details The job is 10x better than the one I am currently at. They do not know that I am currently working elsewhere. I did not want this current job to be on my resume because I haven't been there long and I do not want to get a negative reference from my boss.
