When you were hired, your new employer gave you an employee handbook or for a larger employer, the rules are on their employee website. Most companies have "progressive discipline", meaning the more times you screw up, the worst the punishment, so it's important to know the effect of warnings in your record. The handbook will explain whether warnings remain effective indefinitely or lapse after a certain time. Also certain types of infractions are likely to be permanent, for example sexual harassment or dangerous behavior while others, for example absenteeism likely will only be considered for a short time.
