My boyfriend is being charged with residential burglary?

He got arrested and they told him it was because they found his fingerptints on a window of a house that was broken into he told the detectives that he was their but he didnt do it. They didn't find any finger prints in the house. Do you think this was stupid of him to say he was there? He has a lawyer. What do you think is going to happen.
