long story short my friend said he will transfer 10000 pounds to me from scotland to malaysia and i just need to give him my details so that he could email it to his bank. i gave him my full name, account number and name of my bank only. than 3days later i got an email from royal bank of scotland saying i have to pay taxes and charges of 15percent out of 10000pounds. so i have to pay 1500 pounds into a person's deposit account with the same name as my bank. i told my friend about it and he said to just pay it. but i feel it's not right. he said he didn't do bank to bank transfer but via Irish Remittance. and he can't get the money back because it's in the irish office in malaysia. i told him i can't pay for it and he was like fine. does the royal bank of scotland do transfers like this? this is a scam isn't it?
Additional Details kittysue- there's no money in my account so there'll be no money to take. it's a deposit account number. i have already shown that email to my bank to double check. before anyone can withdraw money from my account my bank will call me first to clarify.
