Getting a raise but hourly rate stays the same?

  • compare auto insurance quote
  • monthly credit score monitoring
  • guaranteed house purchase
I'm a non-exempt employee (meaning I get an hourly rate and am eligible for overtime). My boss wants to give me a lump sum raise and just divide the lump sum by 12 and give me so much a month.

However, I'm concerned because while I'm getting a raise, he's not adding it to my hourly rate so any overtime I work will be at my old wage rather than the new.

Is this legal? It seems shady. I'm glad to get more money but it seems like my boss is using a loophole to keep me from getting higher overtime wages.

Getting a raise but hourly rate stays the same?
