Should my husband and I have joint as well as seperate accounts?

  • tikona bill payment
  • web accounting
  • study accounting
  • marketing budget
  • budget hosting
We've been together 5 years with seperate accounts, and it's worked well. We just have different spending styles, are responsible for different bills, etc.

But some things have changed, I have a better paying job and we have new (minor) joint expenses. Would it make sense to have a joint account as well? We've drawn up a budget and how much each of us need to contribute. Should we put that in a joint account? The only personal debt either of us have is his car loan, which would stay on his personal account. We'd transfer joint expenses to come out of the joint account. Is this all a good idea? What should we consider?

...No offense, but please don't say something stupid like, "this is something you should discuss with your partner instead of strangers on the internet." Obviously we are seeking general advice from ppl that may know more.

Should my husband and I have joint as well as seperate accounts?
