Can someone help me with this? I work security/EMS in Illinois. As of now we currently work 8 hours with a?

  • internet phone calls
  • cheap phone calls
paid lunch as we are expected to respond to calls. Come January 1st they are extending our work day by a half hour and will now have to clock out for lunch but still be expected to respond to calls. Is this legal? I was always under the assumption that if you clock out at work even for lunch you are then on your own time, so how can they say we will still have to respond to calls. There are usually 3 of us on shift at a time if that helps.
