I have just started working after University and was thinking of placing some of my money in shares to try and maximise them. I was trying to think of companies that I believe will do well in the future and I immediately thought of AMD. AMD is supplying both the Xbox one and the PS4, furthermore they have there new Hawaii GPU line up soon what looks to undercut Nvidia. AMD currently seems to be doing well and I feel that they are making the right moves at the right time, so I think they would be a good investment. Do any of you have any views on this and if AMD is a good investment or not. Although there cpu's are not as good as Intel's they are catching up and Intel's newest Haswell cpu's were disappointing. Any input would be greatly appreciated, if you think there a bad investment could you tell me why. Thanks in advance and i'm thinking of investing roughly £1000.
Additional Details Sorry I should have mentioned replying to ? the £1000 is some of my savings which I do not currently rely on, and can lose but obviously that's not the idea :) Common Sense: Thankyou for your feedback, i'm kind of asking as i'm new to this and want to get a feel if I should or should not jump in. Thinking about your answer I guess i'm jumping the gun a bit and need to do more research and planning before I move any of my money.
Should i buy some AMD Shares?
